A problem that many alcoholics have is they DENY that they are alcoholics.
Therefore, there is no reason to get help.
If you are an alcoholic, you need to admit to yourself that you have a problem.
Then you need to get help immediately.
There are many GREAT places to get help.
The first step you need to take, however, is to pick up the phone. If you are in the U.S. call:
And regardless of where you live, you can use your phone book and the Internet to find treatment facilities in your area.
But you must take ACTION.
Do not wait until tomorrow.
You need to act NOW.
I will be here when you get back. So get moving.
Make some phone calls.
And establish a support system as fast as possible. Let you family members and friends know that you are getting help. They will support you.
And when you need to talk to someone, reach out to your family members and friends.
You also want to make an appointment with a medical doctor. And you will need to tell the doctor that you are an alcoholic and would like a complete physical exam to look for any physical problems or medical conditions associated with alcoholism.
And if you have any medical conditions, take care of them fast.
You also want to get into therapy.
You want one-in-one time with a good therapist who will be able to help you work through the psychological issues of alcoholism.
And you want to get into group therapy with other alcoholics. Group therapy will allow you to connect with others who have the same problems that you do.
Again, you need to take action. None of these things will happen by themselves.
Admit you have a problem.
And reach out for help when you need it.
And you WILL get better.
